Dr. Shams has been serving the Government of the Punjab as the Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) since 2009.

Previously, he has rendered his services as HR Training Consultant to Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Head of HR- Retail Banking Group, Senior Vice President Habib Bank Ltd, and Secretary HRM, Central Board of Revenue (Government of the Punjab).

Besides working in the corporate sector, he is also a Director and Member of the Executive Committee of Akhuwat, the world’s largest Interest-free Microfinance institute. He is an executive member of the Fountain House, Lahore and Red Crescent Society, Pakistan and Member of Board of Directors of OPEN (Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs) Lahore Chapter.

A prominent social entrepreneur, former civil servant writer and development professional, Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib, is the founder of the world’s largest interest-free microfinance program, Akhuwat. Besides his pro bono work for Akhuwat, Dr. Saqib is serving many other civil society organizations like Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF), Fountain House, Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled, Health Care Commission, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and syndicates of few public sector universities on voluntary basis. He is also member BoD, Bank of Punjab.

Dr. Saqib is a prolific development consultant, and has provided consultancy to various international development agencies such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Labor Organization (ILO), UNICEF, the World Bank, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), USAID and DFID.

He completed his Masters in Public Administration (MPA) through Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, from the American University, Washington D.C., USA. He joined Civil Service of Pakistan in 1985. In 1998, he joined Punjab Rural Support Programme (PRSP), as General Manager and served the organization for seven years. He resigned from civil service in 2003 and founded Akhuwat.

Dr. Amjad has distinguished expertise in areas like poverty alleviation, microfinance, social mobilization, education management and health management. 

Huma Mirza is currently serving as Technical Advisor to Akhuwat Professional Development Cell. She is also working as Education Consultant to the World Bank for its Punjab Education Support Program (PESP)-3.  She brings with her rich and diverse experience of working in the development sector for over20 years. With a focus on education, she has served a number of international agencies that include, DFID, USAID,GIZ and the World Bank as a senior consultant and team member leading.  Her engagement with the Canadian Government as a Technical Advisor and Senior Education Advisor spanned over a decade. 

Early on in her career Huma Mirza was directly involved in teaching and learning. Her key contributions to education in Pakistan came through her years as Senior Editor, School Books at Oxford University Press, Karachi Pakistan; Senior Instructor at Aga Khan University , Karachi ;Jinnah Post Graduate Medical College, Karachi; Fauji Foundation Teachers Training Institute, Rawalpindi and Post Graduate Government College for Women, Rawalpindi.

Mr. Nadeem Asraf has a graduate degree in Law, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, UCONN, USA and also joined the Executive Development Programme, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA. His area of expertise include, but not limited to, Public Policy formulation especially in the field of education, Public Administration and Law, and Public Sector Development.

He is a former Federal Secretary and has been engaged with the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Ministry of Human Rights. He also remained posted as Senior Member, Board of Revenue, Punjab and has worked as the Highest Revenue Court of the Province as well as Chief Land Commissioner and Relief Commissioner Punjab.

A former civil servant of Pakistan with a significant diversity in his roles and achievements from philanthropy to private sector up-gradation and corporate sector facilitation. He has a PhD degree in Development Studies and holds three Masters Degrees: Business Administration, Economics and Political Science.

Being a member of the Pakistan Administrative Service since 1982, he has been groomed to deliver in the areas of public policy, governance and institutional reforms with a focus on public administration, development administration, donors’ coordination, international trade, project management and service delivery.

His recent public sector assignments are: Federal Secretary in the Ministry of IT & Telecom, Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority, Additional Secretary to the President of Pakistan on Balochistan Affairs; and Economic Minister to the World Trade Organization at Geneva, Switzerland. He also worked as Chief Negotiator for a number of bilateral trade agreements with countries

In his corporate role, he chaired the Boards of PTCL –and TIP (Telephone Industry of Pakistan); and also remained on the Boards of USF (Universal Service Fund), ICT R&D Fund, OGDCL, Inter-State Gas System (Private) Limited, the GHPL & ADBP (now ZTBL). He is currently serving on the Board of NIMSS. Dr. Zafar also worked as Consultant/Project Director for ADB and World Bank and public sector sponsored projects.

He also emerged as a pioneer of NGOs,  Taaleem Foundation and TF Health. Dr. Qadir attained the management, law and trade related skills at the University of Connecticut (USA) and the University of Manchester (UK).

Syed Hussain Haider is a consultant, certified trainer and Adjunct Faculty Member at LUMS Business School.

His public sector engagement includes his role as Technical Member in Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Committee to “Review Government Performance Appraisal System” and CB Specialist and Management Consultant to Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, Government of Punjab.

He has been affiliated with Akhuwat in various capacities since 2004 including as Group Head – Akhuwat Education Services, Project Director – Akhuhwat University (FIRST), Akhuwat Colleges and Akhuwat Schools and Director – Akhuwat Institute of Social Enterprise & Management.

Mr. Haider has a post-graduate degree in Public Policy, Business Administration, Political Science and Commerce. He has a diploma in various field including Law, Taxation, HRM, Management and IT.

More than thirty years experience of working in areas of Public sector dev, Project management, Financial management, Budget preparation, Human resource management, Institutional development, assessment/ collection of Land Revenue and Homeland security.

Worked with International Aid Agencies and Development Partners on Loan negotiations, Advocacy, Report writing, Briefings/ presentations.

Worked in Disaster preparedness and mitigation, Post disaster rehabilitation, Managing IDPs/ TDPs, Peace negotiations and Peace agreements, Eradicating life threatening diseases.

Worked at all tiers of govt. district, province and center, especially inaccessible, undeveloped areas of FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
